The Big Island Institute is a hands-on environmental education experience that gives 3rd through 7th grade students the opportunity to observe, experience, record and report the wonders of nature. At the same time they learn about historic Big Island located in Lake Minnetonka west of Minneapolis and St Paul. Students explore the island, observe the nature phenology and are involved in an experiential study of the lake water, the land, animals and plants of the island.
